An Explosive Launch to Game Writing, Second Edition
Unexpected events as the new edition launches
Dear friends,
Today, the second edition of Game Writing was released! Obviously, we were not able to hold a launch event, but fate conspired to let us kick it off with a bang all the same. Before the sun came up, I noticed that there were a lot of police officers hanging around in the courtyard of the tenement behind our house. When I left to take the kids to school, there were Incident Response Ambulances taking up all the space in my road and police tape cordoning off part of the enclosed space. It was rather odd...
When I got back from the morning walk, an officer knocked on my door and garbled something at me at high speed. I couldn't make out a word he was saying, so I asked him to slow down - twice. He was warning me that there was a suspected bomb behind our house and that we should not stand next to any of the windows to the rear of the property in case it went off.
Thus it was that I spent the launch date for Game Writing: Narrative Skills for Videogames with my own exciting story of huddling in the lounge with my eldest (off school because of a precautionary self-isolation period) waiting for the all clear from the bomb squad. Later in the day, they did indeed transport something to a nearby playing field and conduct a controlled explosion.
You can read all about it in the Manchester Evening News:

I've published twelve books over the years (fifteen if you count tabletop role-playing games), but this is my first ever second edition, about which I'm very proud - and it is also quite the most exciting book launch I've ever had!
Stay wonderful everybody!
Chris and the ihobo games team.
