Game Writing - Out in January

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the expanded and updated second edition of Game Writing: Narrative Skills for Videogames will be available from Bloomsbury from 28th January 2021. It's been a long and difficult road, and I must give my limitless gratitude to my friend and colleague Neil Bundy for supporting me as sub-editor in the monumental task of revising the chapters, and editing the new contributions. The first edition was one of the toughest projects I've ever undertaken, and the revision has been hot on its heels - but we got there. (And yes, that cover is 'borrowed' from Rime - we licensed it from Six Foot with their permission).
New Silk Platform...?
I don't yet have permission to tell you about the additional platform that Silk is coming to in 2021 - but there is a new version of the game in production even as we speak! I hope to be able to announce it soon.
Happy Solstice/Christmas/Zaratosht No Diso/Swik etc.
It's been a strange and disturbing year for so many reasons, so I hope that everyone receiving this newsletter has a festival they can celebrate this winter - there are plenty to choose from! Here at ihobo we are all shut up for the holidays and doing our best to be festive, although alas all the pubs are closed here in Manchester.
To those of you who find this time of year tough - just remember that you are not alone. Despair is always abroad in the dead of winter - but don't let it get its claws into you. You're tough - tougher than you think - and you can get through this. And you're not alone, for all that it feels that way.
Trust in yourself, kindle your hope, and keep going!
With unlimited love,
Chris and the ihobo games team.
